As 2020 nears its conclusion without a UNFCCC climate change COP and the need to wait until COP 26 in November 2021, when the world expects to hear how nations will meet their Paris Agreement commitments, we know that we cannot put urgent climate action on hold.

So this year’s COP-less D&C Days takes the opportunity to move to an entirely digital format, continuing to explore the ambitious actions and transformational systems that countries are using – or should be using – in order to meet their Paris commitments.

The event will bring together thinking from various sectors – food and agriculture, finance, cities, infrastructure, biodiversity, disaster risk reduction – that are seeking coherence and cross-cutting collaboration to ensure climate resilience for all.

At D&C Days we will use digital technologies to share learning experiences by engaging, being productive and having fun. The dynamic format encourages dialogue on a range of issues that link policy, knowledge and practice. Innovative virtual approaches encourage participants to interact, challenge existing thinking and generate new ideas, leaving no one behind.

We welcome everyone at the frontline of sustainable development and climate agendas to join us at D&C Days, including practitioners, NGOs, grass-roots representatives, national climate leaders and policy-makers at all levels.

D&CDays20 areas of focus

The 18th D&C Days will focus on connecting grassroots voices to national and global decision makers, defining what the next 10 years of leadership, action, solutions look like.

The sessions will address compound risks such as climate change, the global pandemic and the changing economy, while making links to ongoing COP processes including the Marrakech Partnership, the Race to Resilience, and the Race to Zero, and other international processes and events.

We will also be further developing the five themes of previous D&C Days:

* Building resilient food and agriculture systems
*Early warning, early action to leave no one behind
*Financing a resilient future
* Establishing resilient cities and infrastructure, and
* Working with nature to build resilience.

Within each session, we will tackle big questions, seek effective and practical answers, and work together on fair solutions that leave no one behind. Throughout the event, we will consider how transformation of systems, gender equity, lived experience and local knowledge, and transparency and downward accountability can help deliver a resilient future.
